Captain America #44 Cover

Sorry about the lack of posts lately. I'll try to do better next month. In the meantime, here's the cover to Captain America #44. If you compare it to #43, you'll notice a theme has developed. Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

CAPTAIN AMERICA #44
Written by ED BRUBAKER
Pencils by LUKE ROSS
Cover by STEVE EPTING
Variant Cover by SAL BUSCEMA
Part two of this smashing three-parter pits Bucky Barnes, the new Captain America, against his own past as the Winter Soldier, and one of Steve Rogers deadliest foes... as the remnants of the Cold War creep into the states, searching for a secret weapon that only Cap can stop them from getting their hands on. But is that really what's happening, or is it all a trap? Find out here - by Brubaker and Luke Ross!
32 PGS./Rated T+ ...$2.99

And no, I haven't forgotten about the step-by-step of the cover process I promised earlier, but I will have to delay it for a bit.

I was hoping you'd post the new cover today. Thanks, Steve. It's appreciated. We know you're busy. I like the new cover and the emerging theme. The past/present split is cool.

If you'd be so kind, please answer a question that's been bugging me since I saw this cover earlier today - is that Batroc the Leaper on the cover!?

That is indeed Batroc. It's not a costume I'm familiar with, but that is his current look according to the reference I was given.

Nice one Steve! I hope in the future we get a "Covers of Cap" book reprinting all the cool covers you've done on this title!

Cool Cover!

This November will go out my first publication Marvel in north America

DAREDEVIL & CAPTAIN AMERICA: DEAD ON ARRIVAL is colored from me :)

Thanks for the confirmation, Steve. You did a really good job with the character. My question stemmed more from disbelief than from an inability to recognize the image. Batroc looks spot on. He's just the last foe I expected to see back in the pages of Cap. This really has me intrigued to see what's coming up after "The Death Of Captain America."

Great cover this month, Mr. Epting.

Following the time lines on the covers is that Russian leader Nikita Khrushchev and we'd be somewhere in the mid- to late-50?

Can I put a request in for the 60's (flower power), 70's (David Bowie / Ziggy Stardust), 80's (Miracle on Ice), 90's (Jerry, Elaine, George & Kramer) & 00's (Spurrier wearing a Gamecocks hat) cover themes? :-)

Great stuff Steve...issue #50 is coming up quickly!

I am very happy to see Luke Ross as Captain America's artist (I'm brazilian too) but I cannot wait to see you drawing my favorite book again...

You are the best!

I love this image. I feel like Bucky's past as the Winter Soldier is the most fascinating part of the new Cap. Great work, Steve!
